I build systems that need to work for hundreds of millions of people. Right now I'm at Microsoft working on the testing infrastructure that keeps Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange running.
Before this, I worked at Chainguard on security tools that find vulnerabilities and secrets in code. I also spent time with Kinvolk building container infrastructure and contributing to open source projects.
I like building things that scale and contributing to communities where people share code freely.

Microsoft 365 Substrate is the foundational 'operating system' for Microsoft's cloud, connecting all apps and services for 300M+ users. Fun fact: Microsoft employees call themselves 'Softies,' the classic Solitaire game was designed to teach drag-and-drop, and the Redmond campus is famously home to a large population of rabbits.
Improved reliability for Microsoft 365 Substrate, the data and intelligence fabric for 300M+ users of Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange.
Built a web-based test runner and observability tools, accelerating diagnostics and incident response across distributed storage systems.
Led research on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), delivering a deep-dive on data chunking and embedding to improve semantic search.

Modified GNU Screen to embed its own source code, enabling transparency and trust by allowing users to see exactly what they're running.
Developed custom build scripts to package source tarball directly into the C/C++ executable and tested rigorously on Fedora Linux.

Software Engineer Intern
Flatcar Project (by Kinvolk (acquired by Microsoft))Berlin, Germany (Remote)
Jun 2023 - Jul 2023
Kinvolk, acquired by Microsoft, created Flatcar Linux - the leading open-source, immutable OS for containers, forked from CoreOS.
Engineered a systemd-sysext build script for Flatcar Container Linux to enable safe runtime extension of its immutable OS.
The solution replaced the legacy Torcx system, shipped in an Alpha release, and was presented at The Linux Foundation's Container Plumbing Days.
